Being Thankful – 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 & Philippians 4:7 (NIV)

Thank you to everyone for your prayers and support that my son and his girlfriend were safe during the terrorist attack in Paris.  They were able to leave Paris today and are now in London.  I went through a whole gamut of emotions (from fear to faith) when the news broke and I could not reach my son.  I remember dropping to my knees to pray – next, contacting the prayer warriors that I thank God every day for being my friends! In 1 Thessalonians  5:16-18, the scripture says, ” Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (My human nature was definitely challenged – however, praying and talking with other Christians helped me have the peace from God that is promised in Philippians 4:7, “And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

While my news was positive, my heart and prayers go out to those who lost their loved ones and friends during this senseless act of terrorism!
